About Me

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”

    - Carl R. Rogers, A Way of Being, 1995.

  Who actually am I?

Putting my qualifications aside, I like to see myself as a 'regular' individual. Although, my experiences of feeling not so regular as a minority was one of the reasons that sparked my interest in becoming a therapist. It feels almost ironic that I came across Carl Rogers quote above, on sunsets, years before I had an idea I would be following his approach as a therapist. I have always held a deep interest towards people and what makes and shapes who we are and yet the quote about sunsets always felt like it fit perfectly into place in my core beliefs. It is fundamental to my approach that I take each persons experience as their greatest authority, it is something that can only truly be understood and felt by them and it is this that I aim to work with, accepting the client wholly for who they are, with no judgement or shame.
